I’ve got a cold again!

A couple of weeks back I had a bad cold, but I got over it and have been feeling fine, but yesterday I came down with it again. All the symptoms are the same which is very very annoying, and one of these is not being able to sleep and get comfortable due to feeling really cold. Last night I went to bed around midnight but I couldn’t sleep as my hands and feet were so cold, and so I got a hotwater bottle and put the electric radiator on next to my bed, and I finally managed to get to sleep by 1:30am.

I spent the night tossing and turning and this was somehow intermingled with my dreams, but I can’t remember how. At 5:30am I woke up, and unable to sleep I lay on the sofa and got my dose of Ghost Whisperer which started at 6am, and then I watched Joan of Arcadia after that.

It’s not the best way to start the day and I was tired even before I got to work. I hope it goes away soon as I’ve had a rubbish time lately with being ill, which is a bit of a shock as I never used to get sick.

*cough*

Being ill sucks!

  3. Why didn’t the paramedics come and see me?

  4. Being ill is also a good excuse to drink you favourite whiskey/port/brandy because it’s “medicinal”.

  5. Got a bunch of error messages when I commented. (my original is below). Thought you might like to know. (MySQL connection lost).

  6. You need some Vicks First Defence. Started using it this year and while I’ve started to go down with colds several times, none of them have every developed properly which is nice.

Matt B, you need an excuse to drink? ;-)

  7. Don’t you Brits have something called Night Nurse? I’m sure you could do with that! Nudge nudge wink wink?

He he, for real though: take care mate; hope the week went well, and weekend’s almost here.

  8. Hi,
The simplest answer is also the cheapest.

The very moment you have the earliest sign of a cold drink a lot, and I mean a lot, of water. Plain ordinary tap water.
Drink so much that it becomes embarassing and even a nuisance. Up in the night for a pee? Tough … keep drinking. You are washing the toxins out of your system. In a while your pee will not be yellow but clear….this is good.

When I am seen by my wife to be drinking a lot of water she asks “are you getting a cold?” To which the answer is always No. And this is another part of the treatment….being absolutely positive.

You know what, she is a negative person and she gets colds. Shame she is so negative (says it’s being realistic)
also doesn’t like drinking water. It all adds up to unnecessary suffering.

Me? For the last 46 years I think I may have had about seven colds and two of those I know were when I got cocky and ignored my own advice. Like “I don’t get colds” but yes I do if I don’t keep alert. Served me right!

When you feel a dry throat it is your body warning you to get a lot of water into you.

    Good luck

    John
