For suddenly, I saw you there. And through foggy London town, the sun was shining everywhere

This weekend I am going to go to the Natural History Museum in London, and entry is free (always nice), although I may check out the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition which will cost me a little extra. I could go to the Victoria & Albert Museum too, but it?s not my main priority.

I will be going by myself and I?m not going to invite anyone either!

So the plan is?
Leave at 10:00am, get to london Victoria at 11:45am, jump on the tube to South Kensington, and visit the Natural History Museum. I?ve checked and they?re completely fine with taking photographs, so I?ll be in my element. Then after that I?ll pop out and see what I can grab for lunch and have a nose around the area, and then if my head isn?t about to explode I?ll visit the V&A museum.

Trains back to Ramsgate are every half-hour from Victoria Station, so I don?t have to keep a strict eye on the time.

Does it sound good?? If anyone has any tips to give or more good pointers of places to go in the vicinity then just give me a comment.

It?s amazing to think that I can just jump on a train and be there in less than 2 hours, which is nothing really. I shouldn?t really take these opportunities for granted. It needs minimal planning and I could do this type of thing quite a lot. Easy.

That?s all for now as I?d better get back to some work now.

Great idea. We live in/near one of the world?s great cities and too many people take it for granted and don?t see all that they should.

Having said that, I haven?t been to the Natural History Museum yet (blush) but I?ve been to the V&A a few times? (but still haven?t really scratched the surface).

The da Vinci exhibition is still on there too:

This was OK I guess, but a little over my head. Plus you have to pay to get in ? so maybe not the best place to go seeing there?s so much good free stuff there too.

I just want to see Dinosaurs!!!!!

I did go when I was much younger, but can?t really remember it that much.

A few years back I went to the American Museum of Natural History in New York, and that was pretty cool too.

I also rang my sister today who lives in Balham and she?s going to meet me and come along too, so I won?t be on my own. A bit of me is happy and a bit of me wishes I was going to be by myself, but she seemed quite excited about going so that?s good.

    It?ll be fun though.

Bum about in the science museum next door too. And don?t go looking in the V&A basement. It?s mostly an exhibition of old cabinets.

yeah, I would say the Science Museum as well. It?s full of things you can play with?!

That sounds like a great way to spend a bit of time on your own, actually. *is jealous*

Here?s my tip. Stop being such a whinger, sleep in to about 12ish, eat fast food and play computer games all day. Know your limits

Excellent, take lots of pictures for us poor blokes in the states who are culturally starved.

I can?t wait to hear how your trip went, and to see the photos! I think it?s so cool that you?re taking the time to do this sort of thing for yourself.

As for the Museum of Natural History in NYC, my mother took me there for my 5th birthday. I loved dinosaurs and even then could name them all by their bones. That day, there were a group of archaeologists and their students working on the bones. They heard me rattling off the names to my mother and allowed me to come behind the ropes to touch the bones!

One of the coolest birthdays ever. :0)
