My cat has not been eating well for the past few weeks and after a trip to the vets last week they ran some tests and said that she was suffering from renal failure, and in effect was going to die although there was no timeframe to it. She?s around 16 years old and the vet referred to her as a geriatric, and so I am realistic, but I?ve grown up with her and she is like a member of the family.
The vet gave her some appetite stimulants and a vitamin jab, and for a few days she was eating a bit better, but then went around 3 days without eating, just getting by on some milk and water, and so we took her to the vets again yesterday. The vet gave her another jab, but was brutally honest in that there will be a time when we have to ?re-evaluate the situation?. She is in no pain at the moment but isn?t too bright today and I think the time to ?re-evaluate? may be sooner rather than later.
Very sorry to hear this. As a cat owner myself I know how much pleasure the little rascals can bring, especially if they?re ?people? cats.
Really sorry to hear it Adem.
It must be quite difficult for you especially seeing as you have grown up her .
I?m sorry to hear that Adem, keep your chin-up
Oh Adem, I?m so very, very sorry. I know how difficult this is, what a painful decision you have to make. My heart goes out to you, and to her.
Cheers guys. After another appetite stimulant injection she managed to eat a little more yesterday but spent all day sleeping under a small table in my room.
Knowing her though, she?ll be around for years and is just playing a big trick on me!
I?m hoping for the best Adem.
Last January I had to put my 19 year old cat down and I know your current situation all too well.
I?m sorry to hear about your cat. Really I am.
