I popped into Woolworth?s yesterday and realised why it was going under. It is outdated and full of crap. When I was younger it fulfilled some of my needs and along with WH Smiths and Our Price was where I spent my pocket money, but I cannot remember the last time I bought anything there.
Yes jobs are being lost, but if something is inefficient and outdated then surely it is our duty to let it die, and hopefully be replaced by something else?
The times are a certainly changing, and whilst this is another shop disappearing off the high street it will be no loss to me. But what cost will it be to the high street? It will be one less reason for shoppers to visit their local town centre, and one more reason to avoid the boarded up shopfronts and instead head to out-of-town shopping centres.
Pick & Mix and 7? singles used to be my reason for going there. Mind you, I bought a rather fetching staple gun there last month and they do have some good bits for around the house.
It?d be a bit like your blog then. Outdated and full of crap. Why don?t you just stop?
Oooh.. touched a nerve there I think?
Couldn?t agree more. It?s a rubbish shop.
PS: I?m sorry you?re losing your job, Noshee.
Woolworths reminds me of my high school trips in the UK. We used to buy a lot of sweets there, at a time where there were not as many in France?
